The Hiss, Mold & New Threats in Control Resonant

Control Resonant's Manhattan is threatened by the returning Hiss, invasive Mold and monstrous entities born from a new form of resonance.

Last reviewed July 18, 2026

Quick answer

Control Resonant brings back the Hiss and the Mold while adding other paranatural threats and monstrous entities born from a new kind of resonance. A mysterious cosmic force is reshaping Manhattan and changing fundamental aspects of reality.

The Hiss

The Hiss was the hostile resonance behind the invasion of the Oldest House in the first Control. It possessed personnel and played a major role in Dylan’s past. In Resonant, its corrupting influence has spilled into Manhattan rather than remaining contained inside Bureau headquarters.

The Mold

Official store descriptions call the Mold an invasive microorganism. It also returns as one of the forces overrunning the city. Remedy has not yet published a final bestiary or explained how every Mold enemy differs from its earlier forms.

The new resonance

Alongside those familiar threats, Remedy describes a new form of resonance and a mysterious cosmic entity. Story-trailer material shows monstrous manifestations, but pre-release visual labels should not be turned into invented enemy names.

Resonants and ordinary enemies

Resonants are powerful boss encounters integrated into story progression and reward supernatural Combat Abilities. That system is distinct from the broader enemy population, even if both are shaped by reality-warping forces.

Why there are no individual enemy strategy pages yet

A useful enemy page needs a confirmed name, location, attacks, weaknesses, counters and drops. Those facts require official profiles or the release build. This hub provides the confirmed faction-level picture until a verified bestiary exists. Read Resonants explained for bosses and combat abilities for their rewards.

Detail on Control Resonant can change before release. Verify anything time-sensitive against Remedy's official channels. See our sources & method.
