Is Control Resonant Multiplayer or Co-op?

Control Resonant is presented as a single-player action RPG. No multiplayer, co-op or PvP mode has been announced.

Last reviewed July 17, 2026

Quick answer

Control Resonant is a single-player action-adventure RPG. The official PlayStation listing specifies one player, and Remedy’s revealed systems center on Dylan Faden’s solo campaign. No online co-op, local co-op, multiplayer or PvP mode has been announced.

Why the question comes up

The Control universe also includes FBC: Firebreak, a cooperative game. Resonant is a different title: it is the direct sequel to Control and follows Dylan through a story-led journey across Manhattan. Features from Firebreak should not be assumed to carry over.

Can another player join the campaign?

There is no confirmed drop-in partner or shared campaign. Summoned combat entities, such as the Mold Turrets described by Remedy, are build abilities rather than human-controlled co-op characters.

Does it require an internet connection?

The official material does not yet provide a complete connection requirement. A single-player label does not automatically prove every mode works offline, particularly for downloads, updates or entitlement checks. We will update this answer when the storefront requirements are final.

For the campaign structure, read World Quests and Dylan’s Journey. For supported hardware, see the platform hub.

The Steam store also labels the game single-player, reinforcing the PlayStation listing. If a network feature is announced later, it would not automatically convert the story campaign into co-op; the mode itself would need explicit confirmation.

Detail on Control Resonant can change before release. Verify anything time-sensitive against Remedy's official channels. See our sources & method.

Guides & Gameplay FAQ

Do I need to play the first Control?

No. Remedy presents Control Resonant as a standalone story and a new entry point centered on Dylan Faden. Playing Control provides more context for Jesse, Dylan, the FBC, and the Oldest House, but it is not required.
