Control Resonant Artifacts & Crafting Explained
Artifacts are equippable passive modifiers crafted from Untapped Artifacts in The Gap, with three slots initially and a fourth in New Game Plus.

Quick answer
Artifacts are equippable items that apply passive modifiers to Dylan’s build. They can affect survivability, combat performance, exploration, or the resource economy. Some include conditions or trade-offs, so the system is intended for situational buildcraft rather than simple, automatic power increases.
Players can equip up to three artifacts during the first playthrough. A fourth slot opens in New Game Plus.
How artifact crafting works
Players discover Untapped Artifacts throughout the world. These are crafted into usable artifacts inside The Gap, the metaphysical build space connected to Dylan’s psyche. Remedy has not yet published material costs, rarity tiers, reroll rules, or a complete artifact list.
The safe pre-release interpretation is therefore:
- Find an Untapped Artifact while exploring.
- Enter The Gap.
- Craft it into an equippable artifact.
- Compare its passive modifier, condition, and trade-off against the current build.
Any more specific recipe or farming claim requires the release build.
What artifact effects can influence
Official examples are described as categories, not named final items: survival, combat, exploration and resource economy. This creates several build roles. A fragile damage setup may use survival modifiers; an ability-heavy setup may care more about resources; exploration-focused choices could be useful while clearing optional content.
Artifact slots and New Game Plus
The first run’s three-slot limit forces trade-offs. New Game Plus adds a fourth slot, enabling more complex interactions alongside new talent nodes and expanded boss-ability combinations. Existing artifacts carry into the new run.
Deluxe and pre-order artifacts
The Digital Deluxe Edition lists an Untapped Artifact (Wallet), while the pre-order offer lists the Pickpocket’s Tool Artifact. Their exact gameplay effects should not be guessed before official descriptions or verified in-game data appear. Compare packages in the edition guide and learn where crafting happens in The Gap.
