Control Resonant Gravity Anomalies & Puzzle Traversal

Gravity anomalies distort vertical and horizontal planes, adding new traversal, puzzle and combat decisions across Manhattan.

Last reviewed July 18, 2026

Quick answer

Gravity anomalies are a confirmed traversal, puzzle and combat mechanic in Control Resonant. They distort vertical and horizontal planes, changing how Dylan moves through Manhattan and how players read an arena or environmental challenge.

How gravity changes exploration

The game presents Manhattan as a geophysical nightmare where natural laws have been violated. Familiar streets, buildings and directions may no longer behave normally. Dylan’s dash, double jump and brief levitation provide tools for crossing gaps and navigating vertical spaces.

Puzzle role

Official coverage confirms puzzles and says gravity adds additional dimensions to them. No named puzzle or universal solution pattern is public. Individual walkthroughs need exact start points, visual states and input sequences from the final game.

Combat role

Gravity distortion also creates tactical decisions. Height, attack direction, airborne movement and environmental objects can change how Dylan closes distance or avoids threats. That complements the melee-centered momentum loop rather than existing only as traversal scenery.

Do traversal powers carry into New Game Plus?

No. Traversal abilities are tied to story progression and do not carry over, even though combat abilities, Talents, Artifacts and Aberrant upgrades do. This prevents late-game movement from bypassing the intended sequence of world unlocks.

For the confirmed movement inputs, see dash, double jump and levitate. The environmental combat guide covers tactical use of the same shifting spaces.

Guides & Gameplay FAQ

Do I need to play the first Control?

No. Remedy presents Control Resonant as a standalone story and a new entry point centered on Dylan Faden. Playing Control provides more context for Jesse, Dylan, the FBC, and the Oldest House, but it is not required.

What are Instinct powers?

Instinct is the name used for Dylan’s paranatural ability system. These powers combine with movement and Aberrant attacks to shape how a build controls space, survives pressure, or damages enemies.
