Control Resonant Talents: Progression & New Game Plus

Talents amplify synergy between supernatural abilities and Aberrant melee attacks, with additional nodes opening in New Game Plus.

Last reviewed July 18, 2026

Quick answer

Talents are one of the three core build pillars in The Gap. Their role is to strengthen the synergy between Dylan’s supernatural Combat Abilities and Aberrant melee attacks. They carry into New Game Plus, where additional talent nodes become available.

How Talents differ from other systems

  • Combat Abilities are active supernatural powers, usually earned from Resonants.
  • Weapon Forms determine how the Aberrant attacks as a Primary, Secondary or Combo Ender.
  • Talents modify or strengthen the relationships between those active tools.
  • Artifacts are separate equippable passive items with situational effects and trade-offs.

Keeping these layers separate avoids calling every passive bonus a Talent or assuming an Artifact is part of the talent tree.

What the talent tree shows

Official interface imagery shows branching nodes connected to weapon-form categories and requirements. One preview image displayed a dodge-related attack node under an Aberrant Strength requirement. Interface names and numerical values seen before launch can change, so this site does not yet publish a complete node database.

Can all talents be unlocked?

Remedy says the full arsenal cannot be unlocked in a single playthrough. It has not provided a complete first-run talent cap, respec price or node-total table. New Game Plus explicitly adds new nodes, expanding the interactions between abilities and Aberrant attacks.

How to plan a talent build

Begin with a combat loop rather than an isolated percentage bonus. A heavy-form setup should favor nodes that support its slower impact and survivability; a summon or ability setup should improve the relevant resource and synergy. Exact recommendations must wait for final values and verified testing.

Use The Gap as the system overview and New Game Plus for carry-over and second-run changes.

Guides & Gameplay FAQ

Do I need to play the first Control?

No. Remedy presents Control Resonant as a standalone story and a new entry point centered on Dylan Faden. Playing Control provides more context for Jesse, Dylan, the FBC, and the Oldest House, but it is not required.

What genre is Control Resonant?

Control Resonant is a single-player action RPG with melee-led combat, paranatural abilities, buildcrafting, and exploration. It is not simply a repeat of the first game’s third-person shooter structure.

What are Instinct powers?

Instinct is the name used for Dylan’s paranatural ability system. These powers combine with movement and Aberrant attacks to shape how a build controls space, survives pressure, or damages enemies.
