The Dancer Resonant Boss: What the Preview Confirms
A spoiler-controlled guide to the tentatively named Dancer Resonant, its dual mallets, story-boss role, and confirmed reward rules.

Quick answer
The Dancer is the tentative name used in an official Xbox Wire preview for a Resonant boss shown wielding two mallets and moving with a fast, masked, dance-like style. Remedy explicitly warned that the name could change. The encounter is separate from the enormous head-shaped Resonant Entity played in the later Summer Game Fest demo, so the two previews should not be merged into one boss page.
What the preview actually shows
Xbox Wire describes the Dancer as a deft, masked figure carrying two mallets. The preview focuses on the rhythm and physical intensity of the fight rather than publishing a full move list. That supports a narrow identification guide: the enemy is a Resonant, it is presented as a major encounter, and its working name was Dancer at the time of the March 2026 briefing.
It does not support a final health value, arena name, elemental weakness, phase count, reward name, or step-by-step strategy. Even the displayed name is provisional. This page therefore keeps “Dancer” in the title players are likely to search while preserving the evidence boundary in the answer.
Why the fight matters to progression
Remedy says Resonants are major bosses integrated into story progression. Defeating one grants a supernatural Combat Ability, and some Resonants can present branching reward choices that push Dylan toward different playstyles. That means a Resonant encounter is both a combat test and a build decision.
The public material does not say which ability or choice pool belongs to the Dancer. Barrage, Seekers, and Shield were offered after the different Resonant Entity in the June hands-on. Assigning those three rewards to this boss would combine two separate demonstrations and create false information.
How to prepare without inventing a strategy
The footage description suggests that timing and reading a mobile melee enemy will matter more than standing at range. Dylan’s system rewards aggression: melee hits restore Combat Ability resource, abilities can stun enemies, and executions temporarily increase melee damage. Those global rules are useful preparation, but they are not a proven Dancer-specific counter.
Before release, the defensible plan is to understand form switching, keep a defensive or space-making ability available, and avoid committing to slow animations without seeing the boss’s response. A real walkthrough will be added only after the retail encounter can be tested for tells, punish windows, phase transitions, checkpoint behavior, and the exact reward screen.
Dancer versus the first hands-on Resonant
The later media demo ends with an enormous woman’s head embedded in pavement, using telekinesis to throw rocks and debris. The Dancer is instead described as a masked, dual-mallet combatant. They have different visual identities and appear in different preview contexts.
Keeping them separate prevents two common errors: treating a working name as final, and transferring mechanics or rewards from one Resonant to another. The first hands-on Resonant guide tracks the head-shaped encounter, while the Resonant ability-choice guide explains the confirmed reward system without assigning it to the wrong boss.
