First Resonant Entity Boss: Confirmed Preview Details

The first previewed Resonant takes the form of a giant partial head embedded in pavement and attacks by throwing rocks, debris and street material.

Last reviewed July 25, 2026

Quick answer

The first boss shown in the opening hands-on is a Resonant Entity shaped like an enormous woman’s head, cut off at the mouth and embedded in pavement. It lifts rocks and street debris telekinetically, and defeating it leads to a choice between Barrage, Seekers and Shield.

Encounter setup

Dylan reaches the boss after a traversal tutorial combining dash, double jump and levitation. Before the fight, the entity is observed removing Hiss from the surrounding area, indicating that the new Resonant crisis and the escaped Hiss are not simply one unified faction.

The preview describes projectiles made from rocks and garbage. Another hands-on depiction refers to a huge head assembled from urban material. Neither cited source supplies a final proper name, so this page uses the generic “first Resonant Entity” label rather than inventing one.

Reward choice

After victory, the demo offers three Combat Abilities:

  • Barrage, which launches rocks at range;
  • Seekers, an autonomous attacker that can be thrown as an explosive;
  • Shield, a floating-rock barrier that can ram enemies during a dash.

This demonstrates the broader rule that Resonant bosses expand Dylan’s supernatural arsenal and can force meaningful first-run choices.

Why this is not yet a walkthrough

The official preview does not provide health values, phases, weaknesses, difficulty modifiers, arena checkpoints or a named mission. Publishing step-by-step tactics from a short account would create false precision.

Once the final game is available, this URL can be upgraded with tested positioning, attack tells and accessibility considerations. Until then, use Resonants explained for the boss class and boss ability choices for the reward system.

Guides & Gameplay FAQ

Do I need to play the first Control?

No. Remedy presents Control Resonant as a standalone story and a new entry point centered on Dylan Faden. Playing Control provides more context for Jesse, Dylan, the FBC, and the Oldest House, but it is not required.

What are Instinct powers?

Instinct is the name used for Dylan’s paranatural ability system. These powers combine with movement and Aberrant attacks to shape how a build controls space, survives pressure, or damages enemies.
