Executions & the Temporary Melee Damage Buff

Executions in Control Resonant temporarily boost melee damage. Learn how the confirmed payoff fits the stun loop without assuming unpublished percentages.

Last reviewed July 25, 2026

Quick answer

Executing a stunned enemy temporarily raises Dylan’s melee damage. The published design makes executions a momentum payoff, not just a cinematic finish or a source of health.

How the opening is created

Combat Abilities can stun enemies. Once an execution is available, taking it grants the temporary melee increase described by Remedy. The player can then press the advantage with the Aberrant, whose hits also restore the resource used by abilities.

That creates a deliberate decision in groups: execute the vulnerable target immediately to gain the buff, or first reposition so the empowered melee window can be used safely. Crowd composition matters because Dylan fights at close range and threats can approach from multiple angles.

What is not yet a final stat

Official material confirms a percentage-based melee increase but does not publish the retail percentage, duration, stacking behavior or whether talents modify it. Preview user-interface values are not stable enough for a permanent calculator. This page will treat those fields as testable launch data.

For now, the reliable strategy is role-based. Use an ability to control a dangerous target, secure the execution, and spend the resulting window on a suitable Primary or Secondary Form. The resource management guide covers the preceding step. The Aberrant slot guide explains which attacks occupy each role, while crowd control combat addresses the surrounding enemies that can interrupt the sequence.

Guides & Gameplay FAQ

Do I need to play the first Control?

No. Remedy presents Control Resonant as a standalone story and a new entry point centered on Dylan Faden. Playing Control provides more context for Jesse, Dylan, the FBC, and the Oldest House, but it is not required.

What genre is Control Resonant?

Control Resonant is a single-player action RPG with melee-led combat, paranatural abilities, buildcrafting, and exploration. It is not simply a repeat of the first game’s third-person shooter structure.

What are Instinct powers?

Instinct is the name used for Dylan’s paranatural ability system. These powers combine with movement and Aberrant attacks to shape how a build controls space, survives pressure, or damages enemies.
