Slash Aberrant Form: Scythe Attacks for Groups

Slash is the wide-swiping scythe Primary Form shown in Control Resonant, designed to pressure groups rather than focus only on one target.

Last reviewed July 25, 2026

Quick answer

Slash is a wide-swiping scythe form built for attacking groups. It appears as one of the three opening Primary Form choices for the Aberrant, next to the faster Flurry daggers and the single-target Slice axe.

What makes Slash distinct

Xbox Wire’s hands-on gives Slash a clear battlefield role rather than only a visual description: its broad scythe swings are intended to catch groups. That separates it from Flurry’s close, rapid pressure and Slice’s high single-target damage. Exact arc width, stagger values and target limits have not been published.

Wide attacks can be valuable when smaller enemies approach from more than one direction. The previewed opening includes encounters where basic enemies continue to create pressure while larger threats occupy Dylan. A group-oriented Primary Form should therefore be evaluated by how reliably it creates space, not only by damage against a lone target.

Primary Form placement

Slash belongs to the first pool of Aberrant choices and controls Dylan’s basic attack sequence. Secondary Forms are selected from another pool for special or charged attacks, while Combo Enders fill a third part of the loadout. Those categories prevent “scythe” from describing the entire build.

Xbox Wire reports that forms not selected first can be unlocked later. The initial decision changes the early moveset but is not presented as a permanent one-weapon save file.

Build questions still open

No official source has supplied Slash’s complete skill tree, critical behavior, aerial inputs or interaction with status effects. It is reasonable to classify it as crowd coverage because the hands-on does so; it is not yet responsible to publish a final tier ranking.

A player planning around Slash can use an ability or Secondary Form that improves single-target pressure. Conversely, a summon-heavy setup may value Slash for personal crowd control while summons attack independently. Compare Flurry, Slice and the Aberrant slot system.

Guides & Gameplay FAQ

Do I need to play the first Control?

No. Remedy presents Control Resonant as a standalone story and a new entry point centered on Dylan Faden. Playing Control provides more context for Jesse, Dylan, the FBC, and the Oldest House, but it is not required.

What genre is Control Resonant?

Control Resonant is a single-player action RPG with melee-led combat, paranatural abilities, buildcrafting, and exploration. It is not simply a repeat of the first game’s third-person shooter structure.

What are Instinct powers?

Instinct is the name used for Dylan’s paranatural ability system. These powers combine with movement and Aberrant attacks to shape how a build controls space, survives pressure, or damages enemies.
