Control Resonant's 3D Platforming Explained

Control Resonant combines double dash, double jump, levitation and gravity-shifting surfaces in dedicated traversal challenges.

Last reviewed July 25, 2026

Quick answer

Control Resonant includes substantial 3D platforming, not only combat traversal. Previewed challenges use dash, double jump and levitation, while Gravity Anomalies require Dylan to identify walkable walls, roofs and upside-down roads.

Evidence from the opening hour

Xbox Wire’s hands-on explicitly calls out the game’s platforming emphasis. Dylan climbs toward rooftops, enters an abnormal pocket space and receives movement powers through a tutorial sequence. The route culminates in longer combined jumps before the first boss.

This is stronger evidence than assuming every action game with a jump button is a platformer. The movement abilities are taught through designed obstacles and then used to reach new spaces.

Gravity as a route puzzle

Remedy’s gameplay explanation adds another layer. In Gravity Anomalies, orientation changes completely. A surface that looks like a wall or ceiling can act as normal ground if Dylan reaches it. Reach and Shift help him move through these areas.

The result is both execution and observation: the player must control momentum while reading architecture that no longer follows ordinary rules.

What is not confirmed

There is no published count of platforming rooms, time trials, accessibility assists or optional movement challenges. Preview footage also cannot establish the difficulty curve for the entire campaign.

Because traversal abilities reset in New Game Plus, some platforming progression remains tied to the story. Combat upgrades and Artifacts carry over under different rules.

Use movement abilities for the control set, movement consoles for the opening unlock sequence, and Gravity Anomalies for the orientation mechanic.
