Shift Ability: How Gravity Anomalies Work
Shift lets Dylan redirect momentum and movement inside Control Resonant's Gravity Anomalies, where walls, roads and roofs can become walkable ground.

Quick answer
Shift is a traversal ability used inside Gravity Anomalies. It allows Dylan to redirect momentum and movement as orientation changes, helping him treat an upside-down road or sideways roof as a reachable walking surface.
The confirmed puzzle rule
Remedy describes Gravity Anomalies as areas where ordinary ideas of up, down and ground break apart. A surface can be rotated into an unexpected position yet behave normally after Dylan reaches it. The challenge is spotting the viable route and changing how movement is directed.
Shift is the named ability used to adapt “on the fly.” It is not the same as the ordinary dash demonstrated in the Summer Game Fest build, and the official article does not call it a combat teleport.
Shift versus Reach
The two named traversal powers solve related but distinct problems. Reach helps Dylan access spaces that no longer follow regular physics. Shift changes momentum and movement while gravity itself is unstable. A puzzle may involve both identifying a target surface and orienting Dylan correctly to land on it.
The final game may teach or upgrade these powers over time, but no complete progression chart is available. Because traversal remains linked to narrative progression, such abilities reset in New Game Plus even when Aberrant upgrades and Combat Abilities carry over.
Avoiding false walkthroughs
Pre-release footage can establish the rule, not every solution. There is not enough evidence to publish exact inputs for each anomaly, a complete list of affected zones or coordinates for hidden rewards. Those pages should wait for verified play.
Use the Gravity Anomalies guide for the broader environmental system and Reach for the paired named ability. The movement overview covers the separate double dash, double jump and short levitation shown in a playable preview.
