Movement Ability Consoles in Control Resonant

The opening preview shows 16-bit-style consoles unlocking dash, double jump and levitation before short platforming tutorials.

Quick answer

A media preview shows Dylan using objects resembling 16-bit game consoles to unlock movement abilities. The demonstrated sequence grants dash, double jump and levitation, then teaches each power through platforming challenges.

Where the consoles appeared

During the opening hour, Dylan follows an impression of Jesse into a pocket-like space of plant-covered rooftops suspended in a black void. The console-like objects appear there as part of a structured traversal tutorial.

The hands-on does not publish an official item name for the consoles. “Movement ability consoles” is a descriptive label for this guide, not a claim that the final database or subtitles use that term.

Abilities shown

The sequence introduces a dash, double jump and brief levitation. The challenges first teach the individual movement and then combine it with larger gaps on the route toward the first shown Resonant boss.

Another preview describes a double dash in the playable controls, but final cooldowns, upgrades and input layouts can still change. Separately named powers such as Reach and Shift address traversal through warped physics and Gravity Anomalies.

Why these unlocks reset in New Game Plus

Remedy confirms that traversal abilities do not carry into New Game Plus because they remain connected to story progression and the changing world. That keeps movement-gated sequences in their narrative order even when combat progression persists.

It is not yet known whether every traversal power comes from the same type of console-like object. A full unlock-location guide must wait for the released game.

See the movement controls overview for the demonstrated abilities, Reach and Shift for named physics-navigation powers, and New Game Plus carryover for the reset rule.

Guides & Gameplay FAQ

Do I need to play the first Control?

No. Remedy presents Control Resonant as a standalone story and a new entry point centered on Dylan Faden. Playing Control provides more context for Jesse, Dylan, the FBC, and the Oldest House, but it is not required.

What genre is Control Resonant?

Control Resonant is a single-player action RPG with melee-led combat, paranatural abilities, buildcrafting, and exploration. It is not simply a repeat of the first game’s third-person shooter structure.

What are Instinct powers?

Instinct is the name used for Dylan’s paranatural ability system. These powers combine with movement and Aberrant attacks to shape how a build controls space, survives pressure, or damages enemies.
