Hidden Discoveries & Optional Activities Explained

Control Resonant's handcrafted zones include hidden discoveries, encounters, environmental challenges and optional activities beyond its two quest types.

Last reviewed July 25, 2026

Quick answer

CONTROL Resonant includes hidden discoveries, combat encounters, environmental challenges and optional activities inside its Manhattan zones, in addition to the main Dylan’s Journey and narrative World Quests.

How these activities differ

Dylan’s Journey is the main campaign. World Quests are self-contained narrative stories. The other activity types can support exploration without necessarily becoming full story quests. An environmental challenge may test movement or gravity manipulation; a hidden discovery may reward attention to an unusual space; an encounter can emphasize combat; an Altered Item chase can become its own paranormal objective.

This structure matters for guides because those intents should not be collapsed into one generic “side quest” label. A future walkthrough needs the activity’s real name, location, requirement, solution and reward before receiving an indexable page.

What is useful before launch

Players can expect reasons to revisit and examine handcrafted zones rather than simply follow a main objective marker. The official design goal is not to clear a crowded map. That supports a curated activity database after verified play data becomes available, but it does not justify inventing dozens of unnamed collectible or puzzle routes today.

Use the quest structure guide for the two narrative types. The Altered Items page covers the only specifically teased chase category, while Gravity Anomalies explains a confirmed traversal challenge. The Manhattan zones guide provides the larger spatial framework.

Guides & Gameplay FAQ

Do I need to play the first Control?

No. Remedy presents Control Resonant as a standalone story and a new entry point centered on Dylan Faden. Playing Control provides more context for Jesse, Dylan, the FBC, and the Oldest House, but it is not required.

What genre is Control Resonant?

Control Resonant is a single-player action RPG with melee-led combat, paranatural abilities, buildcrafting, and exploration. It is not simply a repeat of the first game’s third-person shooter structure.

What are Instinct powers?

Instinct is the name used for Dylan’s paranatural ability system. These powers combine with movement and Aberrant attacks to shape how a build controls space, survives pressure, or damages enemies.
